Campden Tablets to control fungal infections?

deadfall

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to growing chilis. This is my second year. I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and grow my plants in pots in a large south facing window. Recently I noticed a crystal like white substance on the underside of the leaves. I have had small flies buzzing around them, they disappeared after a bug spray treatment, so I painted some of the treatment on the effected leaves thinking they might be eggs.

One week later and they substance is still there. A bit of research suggests it might be a fungal or bacterial infection. I'm also an avid home brewer and as such have a stock of campden tablets (Potassium Sulfate) which is used to sterilise home brew equipment from bacteria and wild yeasts. Would a light spraying of this be detrimental to the plants?

Thanks
