Comments (3)You'll need specific "phono" input RCA jacks on your receiver, not just jacks for a tape player or Aux In. Turntables need a greater boost than other line-in items. The exception is with some newer turntables that have a switch on them to provide the necessary added boost so they can be attached to a standard line-in or tape input jack (and many newer stereo or AV receivers, or the little ones that are part of mini shelf systems, don't have a dedicated phono input). There are also gizmos available (for about $25 from Recoton the last time I looked) that attach between the turntable and aux-in jack to provide the extra boost. I use a cheapo Radio Shack amplifier that includes the needed phono EQ for this purpose. Mine was sold under the Realistic brand, I think they've switched to the RCA brand (under license, same product) since then. It was about $60 new when I bought mine, although I paid less than half that on eBay....See Morevcr recording/satellite tv?
Comments (14)Update: Got the VCR to record! After I double-checked all the connections to make sure they were plugged in correctly, I re-read all the manuals (satellite, tv, vcr). With the tv on (any channel), I used the VCR Remote to go to: 'Timer Recordings' > 'Make a New Program' > Chose how often I wanted to record the program (in this case 'Once'). Then the following was displayed: Channel __ Start Time ______ End Time ______ Start Date ______ Tape Speed ______ This time for the Channel, I chose 03, rather than trying to enter the actual channel I wanted to record. I also made sure the tv was showing something on the same channel that I wanted the vcr to record from! Changing those last two things did the trick. Thank goodness. What a hassle. (The cables are coaxial - one coming from the satellite receiver and connecting to the VCR, the other coming from the VCR and connecting to the TV.) I've given all this info in case there are others out there who've run into this problem. Thanks again to all who helped steer me in the right direction....See MoreHelp for home recording/production studio!

Comments (0)Hi All, I’m acting as owner builder for a reno of a single story family home. I’m looking for a simple excel worksheet for Mac which is simple but robust enough to record all expense compared to budget. I was hoping to just download it and not have to fumble around for hours creating my own. I may even pay a few bucks for it! Cheers!...See Moresflgplume
