yeh...nope. Not here in NE Norman although I would LOVE IT! DH went out to mow @ 7:30 tonite and the heat and indices was still at or over 100. No worries though! The battery on the lawn tractor was dead as a doornail. =( Guess what we'll be buying this week? heh! It's due. The tractor is 4 years old.

But the heat is bad....just as bad as the lower temps with the high humidity. Our above ground pool feels like a giant hot-tub.

I'm glad y'all had a little break today. We had a couple of rainy days like that earlier in the month, and the brief break from the heat was wonderful, although we paid for it by having a killer heat index the day after the rain.

Paula, Now, let's look at this positively. You not only have a nice swimming pool, you have a very large solar-heated hot tub. That way, you can save all your electricity for running the air conditioner instead of heating up your 'hot tub'.

I am glad you got a little rain. I think we are going on week 5 or 6 here with none. It's awful. Some of my larger trees are even starting to show signs of stress now.

I heard thunder last night and got my hopes up. I actually had a dream it rained.

Jo, I hope you get some rain soon. Prolonged droughts are common where I live and we have them pretty much every year for at least a month or two, and often for much, much longer. It is very frustrating to keep waiting for and hoping for rain that doesn't come.

Even in times when no rain has fallen for a month or two or three, our trees have mostly survived. Often, their leaves will yellow and brown and drop, but that is the tree's way of surviving the drought....by going into a false dormancy. Normally, though, when the rains return, the trees leaf out (and sometimes bloom) and are fine.

If you have any trees that have been in the ground less than 3 years though, they may not have a large enough root system to get them through the drought without irrigation, so be sure to water them.

Drought is perhaps my least favorite part of living in Oklahoma.
