Beneficial insect eggs or not? Basil
Comments (8)Definatley NOT butterflies! HAHAHAHA As of today, about 10 minutes ago I checked the jar and 3 eggs were opened and 3 itty bitty black fly like creatures were crawling the jar...they ain't flying just yet..sorta skipping/hopping. I know they are not a true fly. ...I don't want to let them go until I know I'm not releasing a pest. Any clue? Thanks, Vera...See Moresquash bug eggs and ???? what are tiny yellow eggs on okra
Comments (8)Farmgardener, Thanks for the kind words. I have to confess that I had released ladybugs for years before I finally figured out what the larvae looked like....and then it was only because I saw these peculiar gray alligator-shaped things and wanted to know what they were. Much 'googling' later, I knew they were ladybug larvae. Okiefamily, You know, the larvae are actually cuter than they appear in that photo. Most of the ones I see are a lighter gray with some pale orange splotches. If I can google and find a photo of some that look like that, I will link it below. They do look really, really odd as they get older and begin to look more like actual lady bugs. Dawn Here is a link that might be useful:...See Moreround yellow eggs in soil
Comments (6)and if you used.. or the pot contained an abundance of slow release fertilizer.. with the wrong formula for your zone... especially applied directly to the trunk/crown/roots you could have been heavily fertilizing your plant very late in the year.. when it should have been hardening off for a long hard winter like we have in z5/6 ... which could lead to death ... slug can not kill a shrub in my estimation ... ken PS: i can not grow a butterfly bush in z5 for more than one winter.. i question their hardiness ... and if you had a particularly hard winter in zone 6 ... it may have died.. just to spite you .... i wouldnt worry about it.. but i personally wouldnt replace it .....See MoreInsect eggs?...What kind?
Comments (2)I could not get a good photo, but have posted a more accurate description under the heading above "Insect Poop ...or Insect Eggs" .... Thanks!...See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
