Certain time of year Home Depot starts to sell plumeria?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a pattern (esp. in central texas) with the time of year Home Depot starts to sell plumeria? I've seen in a lot of posts that people have bought theirs at HD, but I've never seem them there. However, I don't go every month or anything - just a couple times a year, so maybe that's the problem.

again, still looking for seed donations (see my previous post yesterday or the day before about giving seeds a home)

I cant help you out with the Home Dept dilemia, but I do have seeds.
My "Mardi Gras" acquired from HawaiiSandy has produced several seedpods. This cultivar is one of my favorites, and I have been told that Mardi Gras producing beautiful seedlings. You are welcome to a pack of ten seeds from a pod that opened yesterday (4/29). Please send your address

I have seen plumeria plants for sale during the summer. Usually mid June, July, and August. Home Depot & Lowes carry the common white & yellow & pinks. Armstrong Nursery (Formally Nurseryland) has a "Hawaiian Days" sale usually during the end of June or beginning of July & they carry some of the fancier pinks & yellows & reds.

That's a nice plant dpolson37, with blooms even, that's great!! Do you know what variety it is? I actually bought two plants from Home Depot also appx. 6 or 7 weeks ago. They were the standard(tree) grafted Miami Supreme, I live in florida and we have problems with nematodes so they recommend the grafted variety for us. I planted one in the ground and planted one in a clay pot. Also my daughter gave me a potted dwarf "radicans" for Christmas, hopefully I can keep at least one of them alive, LOL... Good luck with your gardenia and update us with pics when it blooms, hopefully I can get mine to bloom?

Start by researching the brands. There are several, but the two biggies are Overhead Door and Clopay. I have had both and recommend neither. I have not had any other brand, but will the next time. Check the Yellow Pages for door companies in your area. They normally list what brands they sell and install. Make a list and research them using the web. While you are at it, try and get ratings on the local companies if you can. Finally, talk to those that have brands you are interested in and get quotes. FWIW, Chamberlain (they also make the Craftsman brand) openers have a good reputation. Wayne Dalton appears to have issues with its openers from the web posts I have come across. If you want to install your own door, Clopay from a box store is the only game in town. Good luck.

Marys1000, are you referring to whether you may owe capital gains on any profit you make from the sale? If so, you can shelter up to $250,000 ($500,000 for a married couple) of profit from a home sale if you meet the ownership and use tests of having owned and lived in your home for two of the last five years. That clock started ticking at settlement. You're not quite there yet but... There are exceptions under which you can claim a partial credit. Selling your home due to employment relocation is one of those exceptions, as long as the new location is 50 miles or more from your current home. For example, you've lived there 18 months which is 75% of the 24 months needed to fulfill the ownership and use tests. If you were to get a new job and sell tomorrow, you would be able to claim a partial exclusion of 75% of the $250,000 credit or $187,500...if I've done my math correctly. Also, your gain is calculated on your selling price less your cost basis. Your cost basis includes the price you paid originally plus additional costs like the costs you incur to sell (an agent's commission), permanent improvements you made that improved the marketability of the home (like adding a patio or deck), certain costs leftover from your original purchase that were not tax deductible etc. Given those facts, do you think you'll make a profit greater than $187,500? We're on a similar timeline and did our kitchen sooner rather than later so that we could enjoy it. But we also started with a kitchen that I was really unhappy with and that was barely functional from a layout and modern convenience perspective---doesn't sound like that's your case at all. I'd make sure the improvements you do will bring the kitchen up to comparable kitchens, though---the worst thing the previous owner of our house did was to give the kitchen a facelift---new granite counters, new sink, new faucet and backplash, new paint for the cabinets---without correcting the very basic problems with the layout, inability to accommodate a dishwasher, structurally failing 75-year-old cabinetry, etc. It was really frustrating, and in retrospect I would much have preferred the old kitchen with an allowance for upgrades that we could have applied to the remodel. (From a real estate perspective, though, I'm sure it "showed well.") We ended up gutting the space three years later, so it was a real waste---the salvage team could only save a few things. I will say that the one thing we are already beginning to contemplate that wasn't in the mix when we started our project was the possibility that we will end up renting our house instead of selling it. The market where we are had started to turn around when we started design of the new kitchen, but is now pretty stagnant again, and if we had to move today, we'd rent the house instead of selling because the rental market is way up right now so we could cover costs with rent, but would lose money on the sale. Hopefully that will have changed in five years when we look start looking seriously at moving, but if it hasn't, there are a few things I may regret in the remodel (specifically our counters, which are soapstone and probably not the best choice for a rental). So if you might be in that situation, it could be a reason to wait and see before investing significantly in the space. Good luck!

hello sjp8987, went by my local home depot today, Upland,Cal. they had around 20-25 plumeria all from C-stars nursery here in southern Cal. Most were either yellows or reds in 1gal, some larger ones. Hope that helps . Dave

Doubt I'll ever see plumeria for sale in my Northern Virginia Home Depot, but I was excited to see a cart of adenium/desert rose. Of course I had to pick one up. At around $16 with clay pot included I couldn't pass on that deal.

I just went and checked Walmart and HD and Lowes yesterday - nothing in central texas yet! I"ll keep an eye out.

Never seen a desert rose at HD. Murrieta, Calif, sure hope we get them!!

Houston Garden Center on 249 near Spring, Texas (the red/yellow big top place) has plumerias 1 gal. for $6.99 and 3-5 gal. $16.99 The one gallon has two plumeria plants in them, so its like 3.50 each! and some of them have inflo. The bigger pot has 3-4 plumeria in them. Just to let you know I found some!

I also have been looking at home depot(in the San Francisco Bay, Ca). I haven't seen any for sale around here anywhere. Would any of you guys be willing to swap some seeds for something I have? Hope to hear back from you
