Royal Hawaiian vs, Hawaiian Royal plumeria

When posting rgarding the flower Show, I think I named th cutting wrong. The one picture I was showing is not a registered color that Mona Lisa callst Hawaiian Royal Color (all three words) vs Royal Hawaiian. They are two completely dofferent animals.

This is the Hawaiian Royal Color that I mentioned had the strongest intense scent ( the one in my hand), the flower next to it is a noid, but shows how small the flower of thr Hawaiian Royal Color blossom is!

Where as Royal Hawaiian is a bright pink variety, I don't have a picture of it, but you can easily search and find a picture of it.

Two different animals all together!!

I think this is my RH. Hasn't been a very strong flower producer for me. I moved it to another location with more late morning until late afternoon sun so lets see what happens now.

Hi Shiver, I wish I can just drive down the road and buy hoyas. Hoyas here are far and few between. I live in a fairly small town and none of my nurseries sell them. Only the big box stores occasionally have them and they get in the same ones on the rare times they get them. So yes, I have to order mine on line, if I want different ones than what the big box stores carry. I hate paying for shipping charges, unless its one I really like. Actually I'm a lightweight compared to most on here, I only have a very small collection. I also have a thing for hoya leaves with a lot of fleckings and splashes. But I especially love the red leaves on the new growth. Enjoy your hoyas...

Wow! That is a BEAUTY!!! As far as my experience goes, if the blooms look like that and the new stems and leaves come in a dark purple color (then turn to green), I would say it's a very good looking RHP. How are you enjoying that wonderful (and rather strong) scent? Ann

Hi Dalette---The leaves on the RHP are thicker, more succulent. I have noticed that the newer leaves do start out a little on the "thinner" side though...as they age they take on the true pubicalyx succulent leaf.

I believe "Royal Hawaiian" is an AKA for Plastic Pink. There are many threads on MPG and DGWatchD and other places regarding the AKA. Very pretty flower
