Pindo Palm dry new center fronds
Comments (2)It's probably just a little whacked out from the last few cold winters. There are so many variables to consider it's not worth going into them all and quite boring. But(-; Sometimes stresses like cold, root damage, crown damage whatever, can throw the palms seasonal cycle off,so some palms will actually try to seed when the crown is dead and others will put their stored carbs to work regrowing new leaves.... sometimes they will do both but out of their normal rhythm!...See MoreWhats going on with the Pindo Palm
Comments (19)Hello, I'm completely new to this, but I have a Pindo as well and the leaf tips are turning brown . Close to the tips it's getting little brown spots that have darker brown spots in the center. The spear grows about 3/4 of an inch a day. I'm hoping these brown spot don't keep advancing down the leaves. If anybody has any ideas I would sure appreciate the help. It is growing in full sun and I just planted it in the beginning of may. It has grown 2 new fronds as well. Thank you very much....See MorePindo Palm Jelly

Comments (24)In Hampton Va my pindo has fruited last 2 yrs. The palm is 8yrs in the ground. It started out as a 3gal from Hilton Head Island nursery. First year in the ground it died back, all leaves. I left in the ground hoping it would come back , this was in the summer of 2002. In the winter of 2002/2003 center spear die back. Summer of 2003 Hurricane Isabell hit plunging it under 4 ft of salt water. Winter of 2003/2004 once again center spear damage. At this point since the pindo seemed so desperate to live for the winter of 2004/2005 I wrapped it in burlap. Ditto for 2005/2006. Fall of 2006 I noticed fruiting stalks begining to form. Summer of 2007 the fruiting stalk open to reveal dead flower buds. Fall of 2007 fruiting started again , the palm was wrapped again, but this time when the fruiting stalks open the flower buds were ok and flowered and produced seeds. Summer of 2009 same thing. The palm is now 10 ft with a trunk of about 3 ft....See Moretnwindmill
