When do you plan on waking you plumies up?
Comments (22)I begin regular watering when I take them out of storage. I'll give my plumies a bit of water during dormancy, maybe once every 4-6 weeks just to keep the roots hydrated. I keep them in a cool area so the soil doesn't dry out that fast. The dormant plumies in the greenhouse get more water because it's warmer and the soil dries out faster. They also get wet while I'm watering everything else if I use a hose but I've never had a problem with rot. This year I'm storing some plumies bare root. I have the rootball wrapped and I keep the wrapping moist. I guess I'll see if this method has worked when I repot them in a few weeks. I'm afraid that the roots of some might have dried out while I was out of town. I forgot to tell DH to moisten the wrapped roots so some were probably dry for almost 2 weeks....See MoreWall-O-Water vs. Do it yourself....and when to plant?
Comments (16)'Preshredded' - niiice. An aside, but related: I'm bending material to make low tunnels to support things like jnfr's gro-film, remay, etc. Some may recall I was looking for a cattle panel supplier and I bought some and started bending it up yesterday, in between fiddling with training wheels and playing lacrosse with little girls, and this is what I'm getting: and some scale: One panel can be cut to 66" length for a smaller tunnel. I'll have a 41" width, 80" length and 21" height structure. You can secure string to the bottom and run it over the top several times and this would secure any material tightly and limit shredding (so the theory goes). I also bent a piece to overwinter spinach and this larger piece will be to overwinter cabbage and greens, after I put two layers of greenhouse film in there and make a vent, and run heavy-duty row cover on the north side for extra insulation. I'll be done with this in a couple days and the soil is warming already, and my peas, potatoes, onions will go out this week and be covered by my hoops. Beware the ides of March! Comments (5)If you have a power vent, then there was some issue that would not allow you to vent straight up through the roof. Other than relocating the water heaters to a location that would offer venting straight up, or if your climate permits, switching to a tankless on the exterior wall where it's currently located, there isn't any other real solution. Both solutions would be pretty costly, especially as you have two water heaters....See MoreWater heater whistling when we use hot water
Comments (1)If you hear the whistling sound only when the hot water is turned on (only noise while water is running) I'd first check to make sure the water valves on the heaters are fully open. If they are fully open then maybe adjust them a bit while the hot water is running to see if that changes the sound....See Morethe_first_kms2
