I had several Agaves. Two very large blue and two large variegated ones. Always got cut up on the move indoors and outdoors. I even used cutters to remove the black spines on the ends of the leaves but those spikes along the edges always got me. I was happy to give away. Every year I removed all the pups and gave out but was glad to give away the parents.

Have you considered adding a tree or specimen shrub on the left side against the fence. It would add some height and some colour. Just a thought! Looks great :)

dragonfly,,i was agreeing w/you. If it sounded like I was contradicting you, I wasn't. A lot of homeowners think that, "oh, he's a contractor. He can do, A,B, and C" when in fact, he can't. My husband is a GC. Can he tile? yes. does he like to? No. i'm actually better at it then he is because I like doing it. I know that most contractors have their own crew. Then again, they could just go by Home Depot and pick up some 'workers' to do the days job. I was actually talking about the contractor that this OP hired to do her tile work. he charged her 5K for the small shower (if that included demo of previous and him purchasing the tiles, then that's a low price) which just for install work alone, is high, given his skill set. I can't believe he is the owner of the business. then again, it's a tile and flooring business. he sells materials. obviously installation is not his forte. But, a homeowner wouldn't know this. If his business is tile and he says he can do install, of course a homeowner would think he knows what he's doing. Kind of like someone going to MD for breast exam and physical, and he says, 'oh, well I can give you implants too". If 'installing' implants isn't something he does daily, then you might be one of those that ends up looking rippled, or lopsided. however, he is still licensed to do it. I'm also looking at the previous shower he took out and what was left behind. Is the shower floor pictured waterproofed? sloped? or was he just going to put tile down there and call it a day?
