when do you give up on seedlings

i've got some that are ten yrs old

haven't bloomed

when do you put them in the chipper ? ?

Wow. If they don't look nice as just a tree, I'd probably take a cutting off each (as it will still bloom and take less space) and get rid of the trees to make room for something that will bloom.
I've got a few 12-15 inch cuttings that bloomed last year for me and I'm sure they'll bloom this year too.

Sometimes the problem for a Plumeria that doesn't bloom is simply a matter of the size of its pot. As far as I know, a mature Plumeria needs a two gallon pot.
If your Plumeria seedlings are taller than 50 cm (hmm, that would be about 19 inches or 1,6 ft. in America :) ) and have pots smaller than 2 gallon, a simple transplant to a larger pot may give you a surprise perhaps this very year, 'cause it's not too late to re-pot them now. Also give them fertilizer to encourage new growth.

I know of someone in Florida who did just this last year and her 5 year-old never bloomed before Plumie had her first inflo last summer!

If this is not the problem, perhaps you don't give them too much sun?

Maybe if you give more info on their condition I might be of some help if it's not too late. I wouldn't give up on them, unless you have other grown Plumerias that do bloom.

If you like a rose and can grow it well with a little coddling, by all means keep it. Being in zone 6b also, my SDLM has varying amounts of green stem left each winter, and it is too soon to tell about it this year. In fact a couple of years ago after 2 or 3 mild years, it was killed to the ground in a year that had some colder temps. It had 1 viewable viable bud at ground level in mid April when I began to spread my home made organic mix fertilizer. I knew the plant had a decent root system since it had grown to be a 1 1/2 - 2 ft plant the previous season. I went ahead and lightly scratched in 1 1/2 coffee mugs of my mix. While scratching I broke off the principle bud. After being deeply saddened, I noticed a couple of weeks later that 2 of it's sublaterals had begun to grow. By mid-June, the plant was 18" high with several blooms. It has subsequently gotten to 3' X 3' each of the last 2 years. You know I will go out tomorrow and check what +6 and 0 degrees two subsequent nights here have done to her. I am hoping that the mulch and fall and overwintering clutter will have preserved at least an inch of green and 1 bud - that is all I need from her. Best, Nick

Tiny red buds are a good sign, and if the canes are green, round and healthy looking it is still all right. When the canes go dry, wrinkly sort of, and start go yellow, then it's time to worry. Older canes turn darker, and "barky" and they are still fine. Some years some roses can be very late to sprout, often after a very hard winter, or late spring. Just be patient, and don't give up as long as canes look fine. I never give up on anything until midsummer, I have had last years cuttings I thought where dead, suddenly sprout from the ground in June. Regards

If you brought it in for cold weather, it will probably come back. Those twisted ones and probably the shrub one are tropical. You must always protect in winter, probably when it goes below 45 degrees or so. I used to live below N.O. and it always took a while for hibiscus to come back. They root easily and you can take cuttings during the year, and grow in smaller pots if you have room, and they will take off when it's warm. Of course you can't do that with the twisted one. Remmeber, these are TROPICAL, think Miami or Hawaii, and they like warm and humid weather. I predict they will come back.

About 25% of the book. Though there have been occasions when I have enjoyed the book up to the halfway point and something then happens that totally POOFS! the magic feel, and I will fasforward to the ending. This is mainly for closure. If the ending is just horrible I then toss the book, but if it is intriguing, I will go back and skim to the finish. Woodnymph, I have both Hilary Mantel's novels and am having the same problem as you. These are books I should enjoy but somehow I'm missing the bus. I havent given up yet though. Re: Garcia Marquez - I really x3 tried with One Hundred Years of Solitude, but was just baffled. I hated it. It was for book club so I did manage to get through the whole thing but decided that this type of magic realism is not for me. :)

Just curious....How tall are they?
Are you using a fertilizer with a high middle number? If not, try that.

I started growing seeds about 10 years ago
I start the seeds in one gallon pots;
the next year i put into five gallon pots
for as long as i have them
I use 20-20-20 and 10-50-10 plus whatever else i can find to throw in there
The older ones are almost seven feet tall;
this time of year they look like big broomsticks
I generally have between 80 and 100 trees
My idea was, as I get older, to scale back to just a few that no one else has
So far I have eight, none are "show-stoppers"

it's yellow with faint pink band on edge of petals
i'm six feet tall looking up at it.
