Some usually will but you might only have a couple good seeds in the whole pod.Plant a bunch in a tray and pick out any that grow.you can usually tell by the way the seed looks as to if it might be good.
You don't have to dry them to sprout them.
If you do dry them it will be easy to see the immature ones.

Yes, the seeds will germinate from green pods. I had very good germination rates from green pods last year. I believe it was 100%. This topic has come up before.

I recently noticed that Pequin seeds from a pod that had just started to ripen sprouted better than those I saved from one that was fully ripe. The seeds were a little smaller, faint yellow, and had not yet turned that darker orangish tan of the other Pequin seeds. It was not what I had expected.

Anyone else had this experience?

I can only share my limited experience with germinating seeds from green peppers:
I didnt have very high germination rates from an unknown (still green) habanero relative that I got from the supermarket... I did get a low % to germinate though.

Peppers stay green for a pretty long time though, perhaps it has to do more with length of pod development and not so much to do with pod color.

I ate the Jalapeno pepper today, boy was I surprized, no heat at all and it tasted more like a bell. Even my wife said it didn't have any heat. I also had an Anaheim today and it was warmer than the Jalapeno. Maybe it is a TAM Jalapeno.
