Washingtonia & Butia Capitata

My husband's company is clearing a lot to build on and there are a bunch of palms which I would like to save from the ax! (heavens!)

One is a BIG Butia, like 40ft tall, I don't even know if it would be possible to transplant. It is a beautiful specimen, tho...maybe a palm broker or somehting???

There are also about 7 or 8 small Washies that I think we can handle ourselves. They are all less than 4 ft tall, but look lovely & healthy considering they've been on an abandoned lot for 3 years.

I was reading thru some old posts about transplanting but want to ask for the recommended steps as this will be my first time with palms.

We'll be moving the washies to our backyard, which faces SE and gets a lot of sun, and is protected from the wind. They will probably be moved again in a year or two when we re-do the jungle, uh, I mean, backyard.

thanks!
