Lily bulbs and pocket gophers

I want to plant a number of asiatic and oriental lily bulbs. We have "pocket gophers" which my hubby tells me are similar to Thomomys mazama. He thinks ours are Thomomys palpoladis but is not sure of the spelling of the second word. Does anyone know if lily bulbs get eaten by these critters? I do have an area bordered by concrete paths and foundations that is pocket gopher free and can plant them there for safety. Thanks so much. Daryl
