You can get some of the European varieties of lettuces and cabbages at John Scheepers' vegetable and herb garden website.

I scanned my catalogue and noticed they offered several 'baby' romaines and lettuces. Not Perfection Savoy, however.

I will say their salad greens selections offer some of the most heat-resistant varieties I have ever grown. I still have some butterhead lettuce and romaine in the garden that DID NOT BOLT during the latest heat spell we had. Boy, was I ever impressed. I will be ordering more as I am a greens nut.

Perfection Savoy is available through St. Clare Seeds in Wisconsin, and their watchdog ratings are positive so I would not hesitate to order from them.

I second Marcy's recommendation of John Schleeper seeds as it offers many hard to find varieties. I used to order from The Cook's Garden, but since Burpee bought The Cook's Garden it has offered fewer and fewer unique varieties, so I haven't purchased from them in a while. Nichol's Garden Seed in the PNW has great varieties, and so does Renee's Seeds.

My favorite, though, for top-quality varieties that produce well, is Johnny's Selected Seeds. I've purchased seeds from them for over 25 years and have been very happy with their varieties. Since Johnny's main target customer is small farmers and market growers, they offer mostly hybrids, but hybrids with great flavor and high production.

I guess I wasn't completely clear on my post. I already have Perfection Savoy Cabbage seed. One plant, in fact that I'm letting go to seed. To me, this is the most sublime of all cabbage plants.

Marcy's site was good, and I loved all the salad dressing and other recipes included on each veggie info. Some good varieties of lettuces and greens, including some long standing ones.

And St. Clares is all non GMO, open pollinated and heirloom which is a real plus, but still neither had the large selection of unusual varieties I was looking for.

Going back to Thompson and Morgon website, I think they have to be the one place I've found so far that has just about anything one would be looking for in the way of hard to find, gourmet, or unusual veggie seeds. Pricey, but perhaps not much more so than many other companies, and maybe worth whatever difference.

Is T&M still selling their old seed through Value Seeds or whoever it was?

Dawn, No there are no seed sales thru Value Seeds anymore. The website is still out there with growing instructions but has a big notice on it that they no longer have seeds and you are referred to Thompson and Morgan. It was good while it lasted.

Last year I found a garden shop/nursery in Bentonville, AR that had a Thompson and Morgan seed rack. That is the only time that I have seen them in a store. It was fun to look at, but there prices are quite high.

I have been impressed with their packaging and I think that would be good for Baker Creek to adopt. I hate generic envelopes that don't show the real product picture on the envelope and planting instructions on the other, and Baker Creek has a lot of those. The advantage would be that you could package in those small heat sealed envelopes and only do the finally packaging in the nice colored packages as your stock got low enough to know that they needed it. Baker Creek does a lot of donations, and I'm sure the recipient of free seed would not object to generic envelopes, and they could save a lot of print costs on the seed that they don't sell to the public. They could save money and I would be happier. LOL

Valueseeds always had questions about my order. (Did you intend to order this many seeds, or was it a typo?, etc.) so I had the backdoor phone number. I called them, in January I think, to find out what was going on. I was told T&M in the United States was sold to another seed company, and the new owner had made a decision to discontinue the T&M clearance site, valueseeds. I was crushed.
