Hi, I'm a brand new gardener. I planted crisp mint romaine lettuce in self-watering pots and it's rained a lot here. I thought the lettuce was doing well. I haven't done any maintenance on it though.

Today, for the first time, I see that the leaves are covered in tiny, white something. I don't even recognize it as an insect, because it's not moving. I just assume it's a pest.

All over each leaf is small white dashes. I searched web sites and they have pictures of various insects and I don't know what else to search.

My little patio is enclosed, but crawlies can come in from outside. My question is partly what could it be, and well, what do you do now? Just pull it all out?
