Veg./herb plants that attract moths/caterpillars
Comments (5)Thanks honeybunny2 and company. I'm around Houston, but I believe the zone and weather are quite close to those around Rockport. Yeah, seeing what attracts them is a great tool to know what to avoid (for my approach). I've already found rosemary to be a problem. It looks like I'll need to rethink and maybe reconsider the thyme, sage, nasturtium, and oregano....See Moreplant, moth, & cat id needed
Comments (6)The first one is Regal Moth, Citheronia regalis . http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/in209 The last caterpillar is the dreaded green hornworm . Hornworms are green caterpillars with white diagonal markings on their sides. The tomato hornworm larva has eight L-shaped stripes, each hooking backward, while the tobacco hornworm has seven oblique stripes that do not turn backward. The tomato hornworm usually has a black "horn" at the rear while the tobacco hornworm has a red horn. The horn is prominent from the time the larva hatches from the egg. Hornworms reach a length of 3" to 4" in three to four weeks. They are voracious feeders on tomatoes, tobacco, eggplants, peppers and weeds of the nightshade family. This should state they are voracious eaters of anything they can get !! Highly destructive . http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/in158 Here is a link that might be useful: Hornworm...See Moresphinx moth hatched in my house...

Comments (1)I don't know if this is the best way or the right way, but when I had carpet moths, this is what I did. First I vacuumed and then sprayed with a product containing pyrethrum which comes from Chrysanthemum oil. Then, because I was going out of town anyhow, I set off a bug bomb in the room....See MoreKimmsr
