That's right. Perhaps.... We won't ever know unfortunately or at least not until such as a time comes along when the tree has more distinctive traits. Let your friend that it's a Picea engelmannii and that the tree needs to be stake lightly for just a year and that the farthest branch toward the center of the photo should be clipped off at its location growing from the (main) trunk. Apical or upright growth on that tree will actually become a certainty....... Dax

I'm having this one looked at by a PSA member in Naples because of it's inflo characteristics as each flower faces up. Not to the side or down. The inflo is also very fuzzy!, like peach fuzz. The PSA member also thought it might be "Pretty in Pink" but later stated that it's not because of the inflo. I've got them scratching they're heads on this one! I went to visit the original tree and it's gone! Now a parking lot is in it's place with a new ocean front condo. I'm sure the tree was bulldozed, this would have been last winter and you know what plumies look like in winter! Stuart

Sorry to read what has happened. I say the best way to find out what color they are is to coax them into blooming. To start...use a fast draining soil mix and an off the shelf fertilizer like miracle grow is ok. full sun to part sun (watch closely for signs of leaf burn and adjust accordingly). Once familiar with plumeria then experiment would be my advice. Plumerias will use less water than other comparable tropicals. Plumerias are cousins to Oleanders and Vincas which are pretty common in the south so maybe you have more experience than you think.

Kukini, Pictures and colors are hard to identify depending on the lighting, time of day, how long the flowers have been opened etc... But I will proceed to take a guess and then you can research for yourself if it matches or not. The first and second picture looks like Guillot's Sunset. I have one that in the beginning opens up bright reddish/ rainbow and then fades to what yours looks like.. Does it have a sweet frangipani/jasmine/plumeria smell? Like that of Celadine... The last two flowers you have are strikingly beautiful but I don't have those so I can't help there. Remember there are over 800 Plumerias circulating: some are registered/named, some unknown, some are seedlings not registered, etc... It's really hard to identify these flowers/trees with the little information out there. These trees could have come from Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, and the Mayans. I'm sure I left out many more locations but it's hard to keep up with the rare ones out there. Suzy
