Brown Turkey Figs

I went crazy at the "daylight madness sale" at TLC and bought three Brown Turkey Figs because, well because I love figs and I figured at the price, I could afford to experiment. I got them home and read up on them, and based on that info I found a spot on the south side of the house to protect them from the north winds of winter.

They were loaded with fruit when I bought them and I thought maybe I should let them ripen before shocking them by planting?? Not sure of the wisdom in that, as they are now turning yellow at an alarming rate, and about half the fruit has turned black. I'm not sure if I've overwatered, underwatered, or sunburned them. I don't see any signs of pests. At the nursery they were outside, but lightly shaded by some neeting. On the other hand, everthing I read says full sun. Any ideas?
