No, they do go yellowish orange and then red. Those don't all look like Bhut Jolokia. Here are some pics of mine on the plant and harvested. By the way the are deadly, deadly hot. Please disregard the dates, the camera doesn't work well. These were taken within weeks of each other at the end of last summer.

There's sooooo much hype about Bhut that the uninitiate are easily taken in as you can see.

I recently purchased some so called Bhut Jolokia seeds on Ebay as well and I got mine in a half sized ziploc baggie, but the advertisement stated that there would be some half of a dried pepper pod with them also. Well, true enough I got it alright. The pod was smashed into a gazillion pieces and the seeds were in with the crumbles of pepper pod and I got maybe, about 5 seeds. If the forums allow it, I would love to have some of your Jolokia seeds trfanatic. Let me know and I will send you postage. Thanks Jackie.....another unhappy Ebayer

hi there,
I have now been growing the bhut jolokia for about 6/7 months and am now just starting to get fruit.
Am afraid they dont look anything like mine and i also purchased them on e.bay but am afraid i'm not sure who from.
They look pretty much the same as the pic of the red chilli's on this page but mine are green at the moment and have quite a wrinkled look about them.
I have had one 400w sodium bulb over the plants from germination and out of ten seeds six have now grown to about SEVEN feet high and occupy half of a 10ft squre room.....completely........allmost to the ceiling!!!
They where hard to pollenate at first but after trial and effort went to basics and rubbed 2 flowers together....BINGO!!
Am just waiting for them now to change colour and ripen properly....cant wait!! :)

trfanatic those seeds for the Bhut Jolokia are posted on craigslist ??? i would be interested in a few of those myself

also try greenearth.inc excellent deal on seeds and even a couple dried pods with the deal, also pure no other plants around check it out.

Ebay has stuck it to me, too. I order bhut jolokia seeds and got at least 5 differnt types of peppers growing. and only two resembles the Bhut! The others, I have no Idea. I do believe one is the Indian PC-1, which is probably the hottest one I have tatsed, so far.

What a dissapointment this has been! I will do more research, and hopefully one day have some Bhuts,

So, if I was to post some pics of these other peppers, you think anyone can help identify them?

Oh yea, and the Bhut look-a-likes aren't even mildly hot, actually they were quite tasteless! Id there any reason for this happening?
