Plenty of post in here on wintering and they should be just fine...they will lose their leaves but thats to be expected and dont water as much as u normally would. Id wait till most of the leaves drop then prune back seeing how they will be inside. Check out all the other postings regarding wintering in here...you should be fine.

Thanks guys for the info. I have some Orange Manzano and Red Rocoto seeds so that's what I'll go with for now. I was just looking around the net: 120 days to maturity! Yikes! Zone 2 is a bit of a misnomer, there are basically two extreme periods - extreme cold from December to March and extreme heat from June to September. I'm going to start some seeds in January and try both pots and in-ground. If I get them in the ground in early June I may get lucky and have some production by the end of September, corresponding pretty closely with the date of the average first frost (end of Sept). If not, at least the potted plants will pay off. I have little faith now that in-ground will work, from what I've seen pubes will tolerate the cooler early June/late September weather but fry in the 35C (95F) July temps for weeks on end. However, I'm up for the challenge, I think. I'm still not clear on whether the hairs are capable of becoming roots - allowing me to do as I do with tomatoes and bury them as they grow, creating a strong root system. I'll keep looking. Fiedlermeister, your photo looks like it could have been taken by my plant except for the extra green pod. The seeds I grew, which were from you, sure grew true to type. I'll try to get a photo to you sometime soon of another variety that didn't grow as expected....but that may have been a mix-up on my part. Habbob, I have overwintered other plants from my yard such as geraniums and never had aphids before. Even now, with aphids on nearby peppers, the geraniums look fine. I guess a few aphids must come in on the peppers and then the population explodes because few or no predators are around. I never noticed aphids while the plants were out on the patio. I've found a few spiders and a ladybug or two in the house and put them on the peppers, but they haven't done the job. I'd guess anywhere that has aphids outside would likely end up with aphids inside when overwintering peppers. Sure hope it's not only us here in the mid-west that get to deal with them! I AM the housewife, who also works at a nature center, and I don't mind sharing the house with a few invertebrates. Much better in my opinion than spraying toxins all over which some relatives do whether they see "bugs" or not. You're right though, some visitors are not so accepting of the critters, and this year we had a son's "significant other" here who I didn't want to scare off. So I haven't purchased any predators yet and don't know if they would swarm all over or not. I doubt they would freak me out, but I would have to round them up before having the in-laws over. They are great folks and rave about tomatoes and peppers I grow, but they don't tolerate creepy crawlies at all.

I totally agree with the flaws of satin/eggshell. We painted our last house in satin finish and so regretted it and in our new house we went with flat in EVERY room and semi-gloss on the trim/interior doors. If you go with quailty paint you can get away with flat in the bathrooms. Touchups disappear, and I think the paranoia of flat paint "wiping off" when you clean it is blown way out of proportion. You can't clean it with a steel wool pad, but if you have something that requires an abrasive to get it off, your paint is in trouble no matter what finish you choose. lindybarts--so funny! i have RH flax in my dining room with white wainscotting too. where were you when i was agonizing over paint choices a month ago? haha these pics are outdated, and lighting is poor in many of them which makes the colors read wrong, but here are our FLAT paint colors. FYI at this time, the wainscotting needed another coat of white: We went with Benjamin Moore throughout but color matched all different swatches.
