seed pod id help

I have posted this in the seed saving forum, and the winter-sowing forum.

The general vote it that these are peony pods.... so I figured I'd come to the peony experts and see if you concur.

The pods are between 1/2" and 3/4" long and are hairy. The color of the seeds are dark brown, and they feel flat on one side like a chesnut.

You'll notice that some of them have popped open and the side that is open is flat-- almost as if someone cut it down the middle.

The seeds are separated by a thin papery membrane that is white.

What do you guys think? and just for the record-- they aren't mice-- even though they look like them.
