In my opinion Bloody Mary is an illegitimate name, it is actually Majesty which is a very old hybrid. Some wholesaler probably had thousands to sell but didn't know the name, so made one up. I've been growing Majesty for decades and "Bloody Mary" for a few years, there is no difference between the two. Leland Laren, Jay is correct... I agree that your specimen is Pink Princess that's lost its variegation. Note the pink stripes along petiole edges, this is typical of Pink Princess and would not occur on any other philo, especially a non-variegated one. If you haven't done it already, it would be interesting if you would take cuttings from your plant to see if latent nodes along the stems would produce new plants with variegation. Cuttings near the base, or the base itself, would be most likely to produce variegation. Of course that means butchering your plant more than you might like. I have many, many plants of Pink Princess, including large ones in 3 gallon pots. My experience is that in general, the bigger they grow, the less variegation they have. Among new offsets from propagated plants, I often get one or two with no variegation. Interestingly, I see no difference whatsoever between these unvariegated plants and an old, vintage philodendron called Royal Queen. So I think Pink Princess is a sport from Royal Queen, perhaps occurring 80 to 100 years ago. Please post results if you've propagated your plant already, or might consider it this spring or summer. Well, I just cut the very very top off, where the new aberrant all pink branch came out. It had some roots attached, so I potted it, I don't know why, it has only ever made those all pink leaves and they only last about a week before they turn brown and fall off. Leona, having the all pink leaves is pretty, but they don't support the plant well. There's no green part to photosynthesize well I guess....its kind of like the all white leaves that come out sometimes on variegated ALocasia macrorhizza...once the plant starts with a majority of all white leaves it usually declines because it can't produce food. I usually remove those offsets and discard them. I don't know it this little cutting will take ot not, if it does I hope it makes some bicolor leaves.

i would have started in MEDIA ... but what s done is done ... soil is usually used to describe mother earth ... it is not a potting media ... and yes i know they call it potting soil ... but i am encouraging you to be more precise in the words you use ... i would moisten some media ... put it in a small pot.. stick the plant in it ... and set it in a baggie with the open top up ... to create a little humidity area for the leaf ... i would not close it .. in a week or 3.. i would gently pull on it .. and if it comes out ... put it back ... if you get resistance ... its rooted ... and i would remove it from the baggie .... and when i could see roots out the bottom .. i would up pot it ... to the next size pot ... do not go directly to a large pot ... ken

In the early 2000's etc many these, now again, popular aroids were in TC and being sold super cheap. They went out of favor (as plant trends will) except for the plant collectors that kept theirs. The Pandemic unexpectedly, renewed the fever of houseplants and aroids. The collectors then had stuff people really wanted and would pay big bucks for. Those plants were considered rare. So now those plants (plus their new hybrids) are back in TC due to increased demand. So TC is nothing new or evil. Only the sellers or buyer who paid $$$ will be angry. Plant trends will change again once TC aroids are pumped out in abundance. Then something else will be lusted after. As a seller, you have to be able to predict the market a little. If you want to beat TC a little you need to see what direction buyers are going in and get those plants and propagate ahead of time. Some things are patented so you have to deal with that as well. If you make your own hybrids, of plants that are in demand, you will be ahead of the game. Asian (Thai, Japan, Indonesia etc) hybridizers are really cranking out some interesting things that will soon be making their way here.
