jaxboro,,, I actually got it off ebay. Im pretty sure they are still being sold (only got it for about 4 or 5 dollars w/o including shipping). If you want to know the sellers name I can tell you. I hope your palm gets some growth soon. As long as its condition begins to improve, there is lots of hope. Im sure by now the weather is getting pretty warm down there so I guess if any new growth is coming, it will be soon. I wish you luck!

Hey abacoian, I think watering your coconut palm once per day for the first week, then about 2-3 times per week after that should be sufficient. Once it is established in about 4-6 months, then only water it about twice a week when it is not raining, and in the winter, only water it once a week. Where do you live? Do you happen to know of anyone who has golden Malayan coconut sprouts who could ship them to Texas? By the way, you should sprinkle some good palm fertilizer that has micronutrients around the base of your palm and work it into the top inch or so of the soil, then water it in really good. Andyandy, Just read your post. You mean that handsome guy in the pix you shared some time ago? Am really sorry ... you took such good care of it. What was the temp outside when you last took it out? The wind must have brought the temp down even more. Maybe it just didn't like the sudden change in temp. Oh well, you did the best you could and nobody knows how plants will react ultimately. They can be as picky or as hardy and one can only find out when it arrives at a certain situation. Still I understand your sentiments. I thought I was the only odd one who felt sad when plants died. Recently, my Musa Kru (the mother plant) died without flowering. It was a heartache to see her struggling after the couple of days chill in Feb for two months. She eventually just bent over and collapsed few days ago. When I chopped the rest of her down, it was a sad day because I had planted her for 9 months. At the peak of her growth, she was a mere 11-footer. Fortunately, she left a pup behind and it's now about where she was when I bought her at 4-ft height. I have been wondering why she died after struggling for two months--whether it was due to a kind of disease that attacked her when she already had been weakened by the chill. As for you, I'm glad you still have your two other little guys. Hope they'll all experience a healthy growth spurt this summer. The young coconut tree I posted a while ago has been repotted to a larger pot and it's now 2.5 ft. It has grown 6 inches taller since. The fronds aren't as healthy as yours. They're a little yellowish at the tip. I posted a question on how to make the fronds look greener. I used Epsom salt on my ferns and they look greener now than before, but I won't dare trying it on my coconut tree until I find out if others have done the same thing. Sorry, this message has gotten so long. Just want to let you know that I can identify with your sorrow. Say, how about this-go to the store and get yourself a few coconuts with juice in them, grab a beach chair, turn on your funky Hawaiian music, invite your two other coconut tree friends and talk over good old days you all had with big bro. And if you still have pix of it, it will offer some kind of comfort as it has for me.

A picture would be useful. Olives aren't great houseplants. Could be too hot, too wet or too dark. Needs to be right by a window and relatively cool. Cooler than your heating probably is. Depending on where you live it might be able to live outdoors most, if not all of the year.
