Anyone know this 'old fashioned' mum?

These perennial mums were here at our house when we bought it. They get VERY tall if not cut back in spring and summer, and they bloom (just now starting) with the most delicate shading of lavender-pink to white (little hard to tell from the photo, but they have incredibly delicate coloring). A British friend recently told me they look identical to a "very old" variety her mother had in her garden. I have no idea what they are and just wonder if anyone out there recognizes the variety. They are sturdy and reliable bloomers (when they aren't sprawling every which way) and add a lovely, soft tone to the autumn garden.
