I have been trying to get a decent picture of the Tufted Titmouse and Black Capped Chickadee but they are so flighty that it has been impossible.

Then I watched what they preferred and hung a suet cake by the other feeder. That was an immediate draw.

The pictures aren't the best because of shooting into the light background of snow but they are the best I have taken so far.

Nice photos Glenda. I agree, some of those little birds don't stay in one place very long. The camera can't get a chance to focus.

I think those are good pictures. It looks like you set up the photograph like a studio with the pink drape.

I don't notice mine on the suet so much. Maybe that is why they are the original cat and dog food stealers along with a wren. Pet food has fat in it. In this weather they all were taking it. I got 25 pounds of sun flower seed at Wal-Mart yesterday, the feed store wasn't opened on Sunday. I don't get much at Wal-Mart because I think it is cheaper at the feed store. I got 6 suet cakes but I like the ones at the feed store better.

You probably should have a filter if you have fish. Figure the life expectancy of goldfish that go home to a fish bowl and then you don't feel so bad taking the chance. At Alexandria's near Carthage, they have lotus in a big rubber tub; they are beautiful. You can have plants without the pump and filter. But Once you start you can't stop. My friend's neighbor threw away a fiberglass form that leaked. I had that for a while; it was UGLY but I like the dragonflies, toads, frogs and goldfish. In that pond everything died one July when it got hot and nasty. This pond is bigger but I think for safety a filter would be good. I can run mine when I feel the necessity. I think the spitter spraying water helps and a pillow is a filter of sorts. Now I want to expand and make another pond; it is very addictive.

Hi I have a Nikon D 5000 and the lens is a nikon 70 300 this is not a bush it is a tree and it is big not tall but wide I might have some winter picture of it will check and send it in or i will take a picture of the tree also the birds are about 7 or 8 ft from me so I can zoom them in pretty near to me.

The hawk in Menifee, CA can only be a Cooper's Hawk but it is an oddly-colored one. Something going on with the feathers, such as a heavy molt or missing feathers for some other reason. If you have other photos please post.

I felt sorry for the birds in the cold weather and fed them dog food. I now have a big black dog laying under my bird feeder in the sun. You can't win.
