Getting rid of nutsedge - organically?

rosesr4me

Does anyone have an idea how to organically control/erradicate purple nutsedge from SA as well as landscape beds?

It is an incredibly tough weed with underground rhizomes and nodules. I have been hand pulling for the last 2 years since it arrived (via fill from an adjacent alley - thanks city workers!) with no luck. In order to completely erradicate it, all the underground nodules - which store energy to enable the rhizomes to spread - must be removed and that's impossible via handpulling. Chemically, Basagran and Manage are the only two that I know that can work on this weed.

I don't want to resort to chemicals - anyone have any ideas to get rid of these "cancerous" weed?
