I don't have anything on your wishlist but if you don't have any other takers, I'd be interested. I probably couldn't get there till this w/e though. I have a pretty good collection of rhodies that I've hand picked by bloom time but am unfamiliar with when the yakus bloom. Anyway, I'll watch the next couple of days and if you don't get any response, I'll holler at you.

I partially planted this upper bed a couple of years ago and am finally going to get back to it in the spring to finish it. I was thinking about back against the cedar fence next to the pyracantha and the ceanothus.

With that flower color it would be a hybrid.

I was thinking maybe 'Sunrise'? I'm assuming probably a May bloom time. I've transplanted a number of rhodies/azaleas lately that have either been rescues or gifts and they end up being my favorites. I have what I think is a 'Gibraltar' that was on deaths door when I rescued it from my stepmothers and have been nursing it back towards the land of the living and it's coming right along.

Rhododendrons and azaleas are prone to root rot, there are also stem rots seen on old specimens growing under ordinary conditions here. And honey fungus (Armillaria), I see old dried out "bootlaces" pretty frequently on the trunks of old rhododendrons. Planting too deep is another thing that stunts many trees and shrubs of all kinds.

Thanks Thane, boy it was quite the chore to get that thing unloaded and planted. I hope it doesn't go through too much transplant shock. Once it gets settled in and I get the area around it cleaned up, I'll try to get a pic of it. Thanks again and best of luck with your natives :-)

Rhododendrons are easy to move, if the ball didn't fall apart and sit out in the air or get cut back to stumps there probably won't be much indication it was disturbed.
