Brassavola Little Stars

(nodosa x cordata)

I was so surprised when this small division (5 PBs) decided to bloom. Flowers are about 2 1/2 - 3 inches across and have a wonderful spicy, sweet fragrance at night until early morning. The first night the fragrance appeared it was in the -11 F range outside. I can't tell you how much I appreciated it that night. For a minute, my thoughts were about summer. Reality has set in again. (sigh)

B Little Stars is a great plant, Kev. Nice that the little guy graced you with flowers so soon. Gotta go check mine - it should be blooming now, too.

Yes it does. I brought this one inside last night and couldn't keep me nose out of it. I wish the two would bloom at the same time so I could compare them. For some reason, this one seems a bit lighter in fragrance - maybe not as sweet as nodosa. It's still very nice though.

Lovely "weed" :>) Harvey, it makes me remember the time I purchased Calla lily @$15.00 a stem and when I went to New Zealand all the ditches are full of them and they call them weeds too.

Great photo and pretty blooms.
I agree, about all these growing so fast.
I just need to give mine more light, for more blooms.
Otherwise, they do grow like mad!
Hmmm...
I guess that I should get a "Little Stars'! ;~)

Scott, how about a Mickey Mouse? Andy says, "... 4" leaves atop 1" stems, short 2" spikes produce 1 to 4 wide open starry blooms, the 2-1/2" flowers have lime green sepals and petals..."

And the Minnie Mouse is supposed to be smaller - just haven't run across one yet. WC8

Those 'Mouse' ones look very cool. At some point, I should probably have one.

I agree with you about the fragrance, Kevin. Mine is in bloom now, too, and the blooms last a long time-so nice-more time to enjoy the divine fragrance!
