Hi ya'll. First post here. I have been lurking for several weeks. : ) I am also an iris lover, and have a new house with a yard and hope to start getting some irises for my property. I found out that the Charlotte Iris Society is having a sale starting around 10 am on the first Saturday of September at the Black Lion in Pineville. I hope that helps everyone.

Well procrastinator me has just started to dig some 'stuff' for tomorrow, but there's a lot of evening left, if the bugs don't run me in. (have bug spray if needed) So for I have dug (what should be) Historic Daffodil Mrs. R. O. Backhouse This is said to be the first 'pink' daffodil. It opens with sort of a peachy colored cup, which turns more pink as the bloom matures. Also dug species N. poeticus var. recurvus Next to be dug is another historic, Geranium It blooms late and is fragrant. Also, Orangery, a Classic with a split cup. Nance, I'll bring you some pussytoes...anyone else? Not sure what all else I'll dig and hope there will be someone there that wants it...or else Marcia can set the leftovers curbside with a free sign on 'em. Sue...getting all excited about seeing everyone. I'm bringing a 'frozen' desert (I hope anyway) so Marcia, can you make some room in the freezer for it? The hot temps will melt it if left out very long. It will be a 9" X 13" pan.

Thanks for reminding! I have it marked on my calendar, I am living in the area and have identified a few spots in my yard which could use new hostas. I am looking forward to this event and will try to be there early. Will the sale be in the gravel parking lot at Faddegon's (just outside their hostas), and how busy was it last year? Bernd

I have two teni's in bloom and tree peonies are opening now, Elizabeth Blair Hirsh, Fen Dai Bai, two unnamed tree seedlings. The one seedling I have been watching the bloom got nipped by something and took the top off just as the freeze hit and does not appear to be opening any further than it was. Next year I will definately wrap it with many layers of wire. The bud was the size of a supersized jawbreaker and looked like it would have been a peachy pink. Even if you are not in the area of this tour check your local gardens. Many have established Chinese or Japanese gardens and should have tree peonies. Tree peonies generally bloom earlier that the regular herbaceous.
