Transplanting a japanese laceleaf maple

SeniorBalloon

I need to move one and I understand that now is the time to do it. It is about 3 feet high and has a 6x4 oval spread.

I know to prepare the transplant hole before digging, to get as large a root ball as possible, root prune the ball before setting it in the new hole, don't plant deeper than what it was and to try to eliminate air pockets and exposed roots in the new hole. Anything else you can add would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jb
