Thanks for the suggestion! I've looked at quite a few pictures of 'erica', it is by far the closest match I've seen yet. The only differences are the flowers on mine were flat (not bell shaped) and the leaves/foliage were long and fine. Seems a strange thing to say but the whole plant looked kind of 'fluffy' from a distance with the flowers growing towards the middle/base with the long fine green foliage protruding above..???

The plant you have shown in the pic, jlpaul89, is clearly a Begonia. It is certainly not a peperomia; I have both in my garden. Begonias almost always have watery stems and asymetrical leaves which have one side larger than the other and are arranged alternately. I once was a collector of Begonias - still am to some extent - and so also is the Royal Sydney (Australia) Botanical Gardens, where I did a bit of 'bower-birding' of their world-wide collection - they grow easily from cuttings. Believe it or not, the plant in the picture you have provided is a begonia.

Thanks for trying to help me ID this plant, Annette. I did a little research on the web and I believe I have discovered what it is - Japanese Stiltgrass. It is considered an invasive plant in 14 states and areas where it is moist. Not a problem here on this rock! I have had it two years. It is growing, but hasn't bloomed. I need to do more research and decide whether to kill it or not. I sure hate to though. It is so pretty and my property is dry, even in a wet year. I can't see how it could spread kept growing in a pot. Ironically, I put it in my Japanese corner garden by the patio with a little Snow lantern, 2 ceramic snails, a Mugo Pine, Snowball Bush, Nandina, and a small Japanese Red Maple. How ironic is that? Hi JD, This problem, of getting the plant home, it wilts, flowers drop, it dies, seems to be very common on your side of the world. When ever I buy a Fuchsia, I try to replicate the conditions it was in for a few days, to see how it gets on. I look for a light but shaded spot, out of draughts or drying wind. Make sure the medium is moist but not over watered, and then keep an eye on it to see how it behaves. After a few day, move it to where you would like it or repot it with other plants, and again, keep an eye on it. It will soon let you know if it is not a happy bunny! It's trial and error to find the best spot. Often what's best for us is not best for the plant and you may have to move it several times. IanS.
