Violet, your plate is beautiful. The marking appears to be Chinese, not Japanese. The sight listed below is quite interesting. I found a mark that may identify your charger (the name for a large round platter) as Qing dynasty which was from 1644 to 1908. It will be fun for you to research this. Go to the bottom of the page for Sample selection of Chinese marks. You can go back and click on (see China history timeline). Here is a link that might be useful: Chinese markings

loriafopiano, One thing to keep in mind, if you are not already aware of it, is that VLT is calculated using the entire window opening and not just the glass. In other words, two different windows with the identical glass system in place can have significantly different VLT rating depending on the width of the frame/sash, on whether the window has muntin bars or grills, etc. Conversely, it's entirely possible to have a higher VLT rating on a window using a darker coating with a larger glass area versus a window with a lighter coating but less glass area. Just to compare options, here are a few glass-only numbers using Cardinal glass and coatings: clear - U .455, SHGC .778, VLT 82% 366 - U .242, SHGC .273, VLT 66% 272 - U .250, SHCG .414, VLT 72% 180(3) U .260, SHGC .686, VLT 80% I89(3) U .291, SHGC .746, VLT 80% I89(4) U .338, SHGC .704, VLT 80% All numbers calculated using LBNL windows 7.2. Numbers based on IG units using 3.0mm glass and 1/2" airspace with 90% argon fill. Surface 2 coated unless otherwise specified. (coatings - "one" 80 and "eye" 89) This post was edited by oberon on Sat, Nov 15, 14 at 8:48

I can only give you my experience with LED flood bulbs, which actually was posted in a much earlier discussion. I ended up (accidentally) having pkgs of both the FEIT and the TCP (HDepot sells them, as well as the other major brands). We were able to compare them directly by screwing each into one of our lamps. The FEIT were terrible: noticeable hesitation before turning on, poor light quality (both color [yellowish] and weak [despite both brands being 50w bulbs]). The TCP beat them in every way. The light quality was pure and noticeably brighter. I put the FEIT floods in the charity pile, and we went with the TCP brand. I have previously tried other "no name" and discount store LED bulbs; but all have been very weak and poor light quality. The LED bulbs give their best value in the 50w size. The 75w and 100w LEDs I've seen are somewhat bulky in design. It's my understanding LEDs need some air space to vent heat, although there's some LED designs safe for fully-enclosed shade fixtures. I've put LED bulbs into shaded fixtures with no problem, as long as there's an open end for air circulation. We do have some Phillips LEDs, but they are the minis that fit into the Juno track system so I doubt that would be helpful to you.

I have a Cribben & Sexton Stove. It has "Stratford Universal" on the front. It's serial number looks to be 9831 or 9831TM. I can't find this particular stove anywhere on the internet, so perhaps someone could enlighten me on it and its value.
