watchnerd- The distinction I was trying to make is that, with an adequately watered bamboo, there are two main causes of the foliage not looking good: 1) a root/leaf-mass imbalance, or 2) transplant shock, which is a temporary thing and requires no trimming of drooping leaves...just patience while the plant recovers. Since it is hard to know which it is, I generally let the plant alone to self-correct, although I, too, would remove any tanned leaves that are ready to drop. What I was thinking, but didn't make clear, is that it would be premature to remove any branches. I've had bamboo that completely defoliated after being divided and transplanted...and came back with new leaves on all the branches in two months.

Your Caribbean red looks healthy in the picture, minus the wrinkling. I sometimes have the same problem with the exact plant. I have 10 of them, plus 12 ghost peppers, plus 8 chocolate habas, and a few more different varieties of hot pepper plants. All and All I have over 70 hot pepper plants and have been growing for nine years and even crossed a few species. "NO" it is not a bug problem. Over the years growing hot peppers plants, I have noticed a few things that affect my plants. (1) How hot is it where you live? When a plant grows new leaves at night then gets hammered by very hot days of 100 degrees or hotter like in Texas the structure of the leaves deform especially with little humidity. The cell walls harden before they can fully develop. When I control the sun�s contact everything goes back to normal. People have the idea the more sun the better. That�s "BS" when I control the temperature in my green house below 98 degrees and the sun�s contact my plants get huge. Last year my ghost peppers got over eight feet tall and produced around 100 pounds of product. "Think about it" plants thrive in their habitats� "specific soil, Temperature, humidity, PH, and rain". If you plant them in the ground and did nothing to help them, they would be dead in no time, unless they are native to that area or live in same environment. (2) PH can affect them. Try to save rain water. (3) Try to stay away from over fertilizing them and over watering them. When you do excessive watering your plants will stop absorbing nutrients and they will stop growing roots, keeping them smaller in size. They need to dry out a bit to absorb oxygen unless you are doing hydroponics. I only fertilize around 4 � 5 times a season.

The plants in self-watering containers and in 5-gallon grow bags are both exhibiting the leaf roll. However, I do have 2 5-gallon grow bags that have plants in partial shade which do not exhibit leaf roll and are just as big, if not bigger, than those in the self-watering containers. I'm thinking the leaf roll may be root stress related. Either the 5-gallon containers/bags have become too small, the container gets too hot thus stressing the roots, or the potting soil has finally compacted and isn't delivering enough oxygen to the roots. I have tomato plants in raised beds as well and I haven't noticed any leaf roll with them. I have noticed a few had yellowing leaves w/brown spots (3rd picture), however.

Sometimes a strong blast of water from the hose will discourage whitefly and spidermites. I do this regularly to disrupt the breeding cycle, like maybe twice a week. I also use a homemade garden spray on my Creeper. 17 cups of water, one and a half tablespoons of baking soda, one tablespoon of cooking oil, one tablespoon insecticidal soap, one tablespoon vinegar. Every week with a garden sprayer. If you notice little red spots on the leaves and considerable die back then dormant oil on early spring is your answer. I am also going to use Bordeaux Mix to control fungus, molds, and blight if any develops.
