First Snow of the Season

First snow here in coastal Monmouth. I ran out and harvested the last of the tomatoes - green ones and blushing ones - 14 pounds in all. Except for the hardy herbs, cabbage and chard, I guess this is the end of the season.

Once the pods have dried, there are plenty of scarlet runner bean and sweet hibiscus seeds to harvest and clean. Probably some green beans, too.

Now to clean up the garden, get the garlic, shallots and onions planted ... and figure out what to do with all those green tomatoes! Anyone have any favorite recipes?

Are you all "putting the garden to bed" or does anyone extend the season with cold frames or low tunnels?
