I'm zone 5 also, in Illinois. My all time favorite architectural plant is Angelica Gigas. I steals the show! At 6' it produces many large globes of rosy mauve flowers in late summer into fall. This plant is actually a biennial. It will produce seedlings and if you plant it two years consecutively, you will have a continuous show, year after year. Don't be overtaken by seedlings as one plant speaks for itself. Wish I knew how to post pics...sorry. -It is also a native plant and the leaves are very large, clumping to about 30" with the flower stalks above. The seeds are large and you can remove the flowerheads before they drop and sow them as you like.

reallyrandy, HD, Lowe's, & Walmart seem to be the only places to find plants and seeds in rural Fla. I found ordering plants & seeds online to be the only way to find exactly what you are looking for. Tomatoes are difficult to grow in Fl. and requires lots of experimenting to find something that grows well in your particular area and satisfies your taste test(some varieties absolutely suck). Growing blueberries in your area will require 'low chill hour' varieties, Misty(early) & Sunshine blue(mid season)(150Hr) -- O'Neal(early) & Jewel(early)(200Hr) -- Jubilee(mid season)(250Hr) -- Southmoon Blue(mid season) & Sharpblue(year round)(300Hr)to name a few. There are other new named varieties being developed constantly, check online for them and also for instructions on making your potting mix for blueberries(crucial for a good crop in pots). Lou
