Thanks everybody. It's the background plant I'm talking about, (the one with many small branches that are brown in color) it looks like a mini bush. It was growing in the thin layer of soil on a rock, and was at a south facing location that's pretty dry. Can't get anymore pictures today (bad weather), but I probably can in 2 or 3 days. A new species? lol :-)

It certainly does look like Celandine poppy. But, Stylophorum diphyllum is definitely not 30 inches tall, more like a foot...foot and a 1/2. The sap of diphyllum is yellow. However, the larger Stylophorum lasiocarpum has red sap. Maybe that's what you have? Any rate, that's my guess, if it's 2 1/2 feet tall. Chinese wood poppy. Stylophorum lasiocarpum. Please let us know when you find out.

Looks like a couple of plants :-) Vetch for sure (I'd guess Vicia cracca if they encourage native plantings) and lupines, probably Lupinus polyphyllus. One of my favorite of the spring wildflowers - blooms all over the place here in Kitsap.

The leaves of that blackberry and different from my dewberry, so hopefully it's not the same habit as mine... Dewberry is a native US plant but it grows like ground cover and is totally invasive in the wooded area near the lake behind my house. Not cool when I'm trying to walk to the dock and I get scratched all around my ankles from the wicked thorns! I thought they were weeds at first so I put on my gloves and pulled out A BUNCH when I first moved in and they all grew back in a couple months. I learned my dewberry will only bear fruit on 1-2 yr old canes and needs sun. Those fruits down below are too red and will turn black when ready to eat. You got to beat the birds, squirrels and bugs to them though! Very sweet and tasty, but small.
