I'd plant it-in fact, I already have- if I was in a suitable climate. It turns out I'm not, lol! The three we planted amidst our thousands of more reliable conifers up at our tree farm have already died or present in such a way that I wish they would die and get it over with. But for you, OP, not living in an extremely cold Z4 area, I'd say go for it. Quick note to Sam MD: Fast growth=short life does indeed apply amongst broadleaved tree species. But when you make the jump into conifer land, that old cliche doesn't work. For examples, I offer you white pine, red pine, Norway spruce, coast redwood, dawn redwood, larch.....the list goes on.....all fast-growing and all capable of living lives measured in centuries. These plants I mention here also have the ability to maintain apical dominance long into their lives, thus the continued height increments over time. Just saying....I know you know what you're talking about, but I just wished to point this out-that in conifers, that relationship does not hold true. +oM

I don't have experience with Hog Peanut, so I won't comment on that one. Trumpet Honeysuckle is a great vine for your region - probably the least aggressive spreader of the bunch, and also probably nearly evergreen, which is nice in the winter. It is a twining vine that needs something of small diameter - like a wire fence, bushes, small pole, string, etc. - to climb. It cannot climb a shed wall. Virgina Bower does tend to be aggressive, I think. I have never grown it, but see it wild frequently. In my opinion it isn't as nice a vine for the garden as Trumpet Honeysuckle. I have a ton of Virginia Creeper here, and have never heard about the berries being poisonous. I wouldn't be concerned about the berries, which are a favorite food of many birds. Virginia Creeper is a little aggressive, as are most vines. Another choice I like is trumpet creeper - Campsis radicans. This is an agressive spreader, but has very showy flowers most of the summer and fall and attracts hummingbirds, making it a really nice addition to a yard that has roon for it. If the shed is surrounded by lawn or other open space where it will be easy to contain the root suckers of Trumpet Creeper, then it sould be my first choice. Another option is Carolina jessamine,which has yellow flowers in early spring. Also Cross Vine, which is another flowering vine. Jessamine is a vigorous, evergreen vine. Cross vine tends to be a little more sparse in growth habit, but is an interesting addition to the yard.

I hope my crossvine will bloom, someday, but I do not expect anything more than a massive Spring bloom and, perhaps some weak follow up. I have the native honeysuckle, Lonicera sempervirens( I think!), in several varieties and, while not evergreen here, flushes of blooms occur from Spring to frost, in repeating waves. I am interested in the new sort,'Major Wheeler', but the 3 types I have are dependable. Two evergreen vines I am growing, neither meeting your desires too closely, are Clematis armandi and Gelsemium sempervirens. Do not choose too quickly, as there are many aggressive vines, some blooming periodically, most of their growing season. Akebia, Bignonia and Wisteria can be too vigorous.

Trumpet creeper probably doesn't have a chance up here in Pennsylvania. The deer eat everything that isn't glued down ... LOL I have a honeysuckle climbing up a cliff that looks OK, but it dies back in winter. So do the clematis I have growing up deck posts. I have a climbing oak-leaf hydrangea that doesn't really die back, but it takes a long time to get established and even longer to bloom (Five years and counting. Sigh). I have a couple of hummingbirds that return every year just for the annuals I plant in pots on our deck. You might want to consider a glorious spread of annual flowers at the bottom of the wall, and a climber that isn't necessarily a summer show-stopper but has other attributes.
