I used to order from Harvest Moon - they had great selection and prices, but last year I had great difficulty getting my paid order from them. The complete order eventually arrived a month after numerous emails, most of which went unanswered. I had already decided to never order from them again. That is too bad since I liked their seeds and prior to last year never had a problem.

You will have more seed than you know what to do with, believe me! Easy to harvest but you do have to check often. I went to my patch today and only about 10% of the pods were starting to split. Got those and I'll have to make many more trips back. So that is a bit of work but there is NO cleaning of chaff so that makes up for it!!! Roll out of the pod ready for the seed packet once dry!

I have raised both A. bidwillii and A. australis from seed. Here are my thoughts: 1. Seeds must be very fresh - they fall off the tree when ripe 2. Seeds should be cleaned and soaked overnight in water. 3. Seeds should be planted with the pointy side down, with the top of the seed above the soil line. Use a well-drained mix and don't keep it too wet or let it dry out. 4. Keep the seeds in a warm place and keep squirrels away. 5. The Agathis will germinate quickly, but must not be too wet or they will die from dampling off. 6. The A. bidwillii will germinate very slowly - essentially they form a tap root and a "second seed"(see web-site) and then they will eventually produce a shoot. IT MAY TAKE A YEAR before they do this. Once they come up, they will grow rather quickly. If anyone has fresh seed of either, I would be very grateful for some or would trade. Send me an e-mail.

For harvesting seeds, I let a few fruits dry in a warm area and collect the seeds. Yes, the seeds require chilling for germination. I have had success with a month in the refrigerator prior to sowing. I also have had my plants self-sow in the garden the following spring. Cheers!
