IME, you can' have a little of it. The explosive seed pods throw the seeds all over the place. Once that happens, you'll be pulling up sprouts by the handfull. When I lived in OH, they were easy to pull out but they tend to break at the soil line here in AL. If all you have is window boxes, I don't think you'll have a problem, certainly not with smothering, these are small plants. Most of the seeds will probably be flung far away.

Ha - just saw this, catbird! I put 2 of said specimens from swap in my front bed, they are growing great, about 6" tall now, I sure hate to pull them up! Thanks for letting us know. Mistakes happen all the time in the garden... I'm certain I've pulled up good perennials which I forgot I planted the year before, thinking they were weeds...
