Thanks. I recognize it now. I planted some three or so years ago a long way from where I found this. All of them and other Corydalis died but three years later this one sprang up. Neat. It is in a warmer place maybe it will survive. We are in a very cold pocket in the mountains and have few perennials which do survive.

The corydalis is Beth Evans, which I think is solida. Supposedly they are very easy to grow, but that info comes from sellers. I haven't dug it to check, I've killed some plants doing that. This definitely disappeared long before my dicentra, which is still visable but fading right now. I probably should cut it back when it starts looking this bad. I planted close to my hosta where I tend to water more, although we've had regular rain all summer so the soil has never really gotten dry.

I've lost the blue ones in pots using quality potting soil and in the ground in several areas of the yard. My beds are clay that have been amended and top dressed with compost for years. Some of them have tree roots and some don't. I planted them near dicentras, ferns, hostas so they got similar water but none lived. Though the dicentras and ferns thrive. I have had hosta whither away to nothing over the years. I was at an open garden at Dan Heim's house this spring (owner of Terra Nova). He had the blue, yellow and white all over the place, all thriving. His lot is very shaded by trees. I made a joke about spending a fortune on his blue cultivars and he joked back thanking me for sending his child to college....;) He said they need good winter drainage.

I would keep them in dry cold storage until late summer. Sierra Seed Supply also sells caseana. Corydalis seed quickly dies in warm dry storage, so don't be too surprised if germination is poor.
