One has a purple flower and the other is dark blue. I'd like other perennials and preferably a larger trade.

Laurie, I have just re-read your first post and seen your spcific queries. V Bonariensis is not that hardy, and may not survive your zone 6. But that need not be a problem, its seeds around a lot, so you will never be without it. And it grows the same height and flowers virtually as well in the first year. It can get powdery mildew it it gets too dry, but it isn't a problem in the UK, which is probably cooler in the summer - though it went into the 90's last summer. You don't need to pich it back. By its nature it is a very see through plant. And no you don't need to deadhead. Butterflies love it more than anything else in my garden.

Fantastic list of seeds! I think it is just great that you have focused your life on nature at such a young age. I too would love to have 10 (maybe 5) acres someday to plant a wonderland of natives plants, and am already doing that on 1.25 acres. Difference is, my interest didn't come into sharp focus until age 45. :) There are quite a few seeds on this list I am interested in, and I checked your want list and I have a few on that list. Maybe we can do a trade this fall? Just a note - on your want list is Cynanchum louiseae - this is an extremely invasive non-native vine that is becoming a serious problem in the Northeast US. And it has the additional problem that Monarch butterflies will "sense" it is in the Milkweed family, lay eggs on it, and then it will kill the caterpillars because it is toxic to Monarch larvae.

I started Solidago speciosa from seed last year, and they did not flower the first year, just made small basal clumps of leaves. Now I'm trying to figure out where they're coming up in my meadow garden. You might want to consider Asters - they are lovely late season bloomers, and all 3 species I started from seed last Spring bloomed a little in fall. One species that might work okay in a container is Aster laevis (aka Symphyotrichum laeve or Smooth blue aster). It has pretty lavender-blue flowers, nice foliage, and Bill Cullina says it one of the best for garden use with "a neat habit, rarely needs staking, and is very drought-tolerant".
