wild ginger seeds

I collected some seeds from this plant (from the little seed pots that are at the bottom of the plant). Can I plant these this summer and have them grow, or have to give them a cold spell first and winter-sow? No experience at all with these, but I want some of these plants to help take over my (million of plants of) GARLIC MUSTARD!!!! I need all the help I can get.

I think I'd just scatter them in the soil now. It's possible that they may need help from ants (perhaps to chew off the outer layer).

Be sure to check that colony in the spring, because they have very cool flowers close to the ground (and sometimes buried in the leaf litter). The plants in the attached photo were flowering around the middle of April, in south-central Arkansas.

I doubt ginger will "take over" the Garlic mustard. I'm not sure there is a native plant that can compete with it. You will need to control it, or it will continue to multiply aggressively.
