What kind of berry?

My wife and I moved into a house in the summer last year, so it has been fun seeing the plants that have bloomed this spring. There is a rather ugly bush in the back yard that I was ready to get rid of, but now it has started growing berries! I am wondering what kind of berries these are, and if they're edible.
