Do you have extra seeds from vegetables, herbs, legumes, flowers,

that you've collected from last year's plants or bought from the store? .

If you'd like to swap some of your seeds for another kind of seed,

then just wrap them up into envelopes of one or two dozen, .

label them with the name, year (2009), and what kind they are

e.g. heirloom , organic, conventional, unknown and the also

the number of seeds in your packets .

How It Works - Everyone lays out their seed envelopes on the table,

then on the honor system, everyone takes an equal number of packets

from the seeds offered. Sometimes there is enough to allow everyone

to take home significantly more of certain items. .

2010 Indoor Seed Start Date Windows are at hand; February 9-March 24!! .

Meh. I brought a whole bunch, but not many people came by,so there wasn't a whole lot to choose from. The weather didn't help either, but I got a couple of things to try out this summer, so I'm happy, and I was able to share my extra seeds.

Hi everyone! Wow! A lot of people got their seeds today! The post office must have been working over the New Years weekend! I'm glad you are all liking the seeds I sent. Gmom, I had a lot of extras ready before I started this swap so everyone got more seeds back than they sent it. It was just something that I wanted to do as so many people have been so generous to me over the last year on GardenWeb. It was a good way for me to give back. I'm getting ready to post an organizing thread for a new round of Color of the Month Swaps for 2010. It should be up shortly. Jan, I want you to know that I have the Aster Florette seeds coming back to you. I split the seeds you sent, kept half and you get half. You asked in your letter if we got snow, well here is the picture I took after we got the 4 inches on 18th. Basically nothing since then. You asked about winter sowing also. I did my first WS bottle for the year today! I'm hoping the Purple smoke Tree seeds come up. I've had them for 2 years ... crossing my fingers! Hubby doesn't like the WS look, so I try to keep it down to 5 bottles. :o( Looking forward to sending out the Feb. card. sharon/tma

I have a feeling a lot of people already started wintersowing. Hold on the seeds. There will be a couple of swaps this spring around here. The one in Billerica draws a lot of wintersowers, and I bet there will be who would like to start their stash for next year.

Discussions about gardenswaps start around the beginning of April.

I am actually quite looking forward to the plant swap in Billerica again this year! Last year was my first, and I had so much fun meeting people and picking up "babies" for me and family. I've actually WS'd some this year, my first, and hope to have some of those for the swap as well as extra plants I'm indoor sowing.
