I bought the seeds from several different places. I bought two native wildflower seed mixes that didn't specify which species were included - I bought one of those from some box store like Lowe's or Home Depot and one from a local native plant nursery. I also bought seed packets of particular species (Clarkia unguiculata, Collinsia heterophylla, and Erysimum capitatum) from Everwilde Farms. When I buy actual plants instead of seeds, I usually buy them from local native plant nurseries. You can use the California Native Plant Link Exchange to find nurseries near you that sell native plants and to find plants that are native to your local area. I have to ask, you do realize that you will be p*lanting a wildflower g*arden with that seed mix, right? As keesha mentioned, it will have a very relaxed and casual look to it, which could translate to what neighbor and DH said, 'messy'. If you are asking if it will be tall enough to hide dying lily foliage, there are a few that would be medium height, but with a mix, you never know how many of those you will get and where they will end up. You also have to expect it to take a couple of years to get to mature height with some of those. I guess it could look fine, depending on what type of lily you have. If it is a native or woodland lily, it's possible it would look right at h*ome in a wildflower garden. If it is an Oriental or Asiatic, to my eye, they might look like you are mixing formal and informal. Which can sometimes work out ok. I happen to love wildflower g*ardens and meadows and prairies, but at the same time, I like them in their habitat. In areas where they fit in with their surroundings. In some cultivated gardens, a lot of effort and design would have to happen to make them look like they fit in. Just one person's opinion. Personally, I value experimentation. I enjoy 'trying' out my ideas, even when they don't work out, I was able to 'see' how they looked and always learn something, even if I end up pulling it out.
