Callicarpa question

I have a woody deciduous shrub about 4' high with arching woody stems that I think is Callicarpa (Beautyberry). Is this a native plant? (I live in MA)..I have seen none of the gaudy berries but I have seen small fragrant white blossoms in spring. Leaves come out opposite each other on the stem. It is in fairly heavy shade. I took some root cuttings and planted in the sunny side of my garden last fall and have amended the soil this spring. I'd appreciate anyone with any info..thx..
