You should be careful about picking trilliums. The loss of the leaves this year will set back the plant you pick, and it may not bloom for another year or two as a result. I don't think picking would kill a healthy trillium, but it doesn't help.

Yes, I agree picking wildflowers is just not a good idea. I bring a digital camera with me and take pictures instead. Although, there is nothing wrong with collecting seeds. :D
