I have news that might take away some of the indecision about choosing roof colors. Lay a large color sample of sage green onto/next to various charcoal shingles. I believe you see most"work togeather",some better than others. Why? look very closely at granules in shingle and you will notice there's actually many different colored granules that collectivily when viewed from afar,appear as charcoal. While you are at it,compare various gray shingles the same way and I believe gray will "work with"even better. This is no accident ,shingle manufactures employee the finest color consultants to be found to see that their shingles look good on a variety of homes. If you found that to be fun,visit a ceramic tile showroom to see how different grout colors change the eye's perception of tile color.

Annette: what a funny name! I just googled "pickled oak" and it definitely could be that. I do think the pics are showing up a little pinker than the wood is irl. We don't know when any modifications were made in the house except for what the sellers did, and they were only here for 2.5 years so they didn't get a lot done. We're guessing the kitchen was done in the 50s (bathroom too but we remodeled that), but the laminate floor is newer. The wood doors and window/door frames are probably original but they were treated with something at some point. Some even have slight drip marks. Blech. When we redid our bathroom we had the inside of the door stripped and stained dark cherry, to match our vanity, but that's the only woodwork we have ever had done.

Honestly, I think it is all personal preference. When I had to make this decision recently, I read either match the roof color or the house color. Lots of people said to match the downspout to the house color. But I just installed bronze gutters and downspouts against white siding and I love the contrast. It helped break it up. Our shingles are a gray/brown and two accent metal roofs are bronze.

you reallly need a coffee table and some other mantel elements. when you place a mirror as an accent, normally you want something nice reflecting back. Not mandatory but it helps here. gave you some contrasting pillows to pick up the grays in the stone. some textured items like the round table and wood mantel for some depth. vivenne wood table the mirror is fine, but you need things on the side to balance it. some other examples I gave you two off white x ottomans since you seem to like monotone, but not really digging it w/the wood mantle. gold/marble topped table and if you go black mantle, I'd do some type of art or something like this neutral wood table
