I can never get a patch of Dames Rocket to live past 5 years. It seems in my area they are self limiting as far as being a pest. You need to remember that what is invasive in one area may not be invasive in another. Check the invasive species lists to see if you are in one of the states. If not either go ahead and plant or pass packet to one of your friends.

Its definitely considered invasive here, and the sale or distribution of seeds or plants is prohibited. So how do I destroy the seeds?

cook em, pickle em, drop them in acid, lacquer thinner, agricultural vinegar Preen.... shoot , this is fun in a sick way.... Mail them to Maifluer.

Burn 'em or whatever but, in any case, if they go in the landfill they will be covered by tons of trash and soil and, I think, a clay cap covered by more soil and then grass or whatever. Of course, a few could blow potentially away while they're moving all the trash around with the bulldozers so yeah burn 'em.

I would like some however one of the things with Dame's Rocket is that after about 4-5 years it stops coming up in the same area. It acts like it as removed the nutrients it needs. It will come up and perhaps have a few blooms the last year but the plants are half size or less. I have only that area where it looks good. I was advised by another person who likes it that she had to wait 8 years before the plants would grow in the same spot.

This and other comments have lead me to the thought that enough study has not been done on this plant. In roadsides the bunches will move outward but will not repopulate the same spot.

This plant often acts like a biennial, so it definitely spreads its progeny around over a large area. You may not notice it becoming a problem for a few years, but by then it will be too late. You will be pulling up unwanted plants for years afterwards, speaking from personal experience. I grew these in USDA zone 4 in a gravelly, well-drained area. Pretty and fragrant, but what a pain!!

Im happy to report they died under the crushing weight of a mortar and pestle! Interestingly they were yellow on the inside and by the time I was done it looked like a pile of pollen. Then sealed back into their trading packet (so as not to make too much mess in my kitchen if the cats knock the trash over), and eventually out to the dumpster, never to be heard from again. No memorial is planned.
