The neighbors behind me have a serious, unchecked teasel invasion, and they are now taking over my prairie planting. I burned last fall, and this spring, while most plants are still dormant, I went from plant to plant and blowtorched the seedling basal leaves...a week later, they mock me with their radiant, healthy green leaves. HELP!

Teasel has a large and deep roots. I know, I have harvested them for herbal purposes and it is a challenge to dig. You will have to deal with the root rather than just the leaves.

The good part, teasel is a biennial. Keep it from going to seed in your area is going to be key to eventually controlling it.

Looks like the Anemone Virginiana (thimble weed)I saw blooming here 1-2 weeks ago. Until I saw the upright flowers the the big central cones I thought the plants were Geum canadense. In one place both plants were side by side and in flower so there was no mistake which was which and the foliage was certainly very similar. Teasel evolved growing in relatively moist soils while Queen Anne's Lace evolved growing in dryer soils. Both do well in disturbed soils that are pretty much left alone so fairly frequent cultivation, done before they can set seed not necessarily just flower, can be an effective means of control.
